The Program
The school's focus is not solely academic. Through our educational, spiritual, cultural, social and athletic programs, Nativity Prep promotes the growth of the whole person. The Nativity Prep student is taught not only to believe in his own self-worth, but also to understand his responsibility to serve others. Our hope is that Nativity Prep graduates will enjoy successful, productive careers and make significant contributions to their communities.
Nativity Prep actively serves as a model for other urban middle schools around the country. Schools based on the Nativity model have opened in several cities around the country including Baltimore, Denver, Milwaukee, New Orleans, Omaha, San Jose, St. Louis and St. Petersburg, among others. In Boston, the School Sisters of Notre Dame have founded a middle school for girls called Mother Caroline Academy based upon the Nativity model and, in 1998, two former Nativity Prep teachers opened Epiphany School, a co-ed middle school also located in Boston and modeled after Nativity Prep. Another former faculty member has served as principal of Nativity Prep New Bedford located in New Bedford, Massachusetts; a former teacher worked as executive director of the Grace Episcopal School in North Attleboro; and a teacher of six years spent a year as a Fellow at Building Excellent Schools working to bring the Nativity model into the public sector by starting a charter school in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
