In the tradition of Jesuit education, Nativity Prep believes in educating the whole person. Participation in sports is thus a required part of the program. After academics end at 3:15, the school runs a sports program from 3:30-5 pm. With a strong focus on good sportsmanship and team participation, the program is centered on significant seasonal sports – soccer in the Fall, basketball in the Winter, and baseball and lacrosse in the Spring. A varsity team chosen in each of these sports competes against other local middle schools. The remaining students are trained in the basic skills of each of these sports and participate in intramural matches. During the winter, students not on the varsity squad perform in dramatic productions, learn the fundamentals of music, create arts and crafts, join the cooking club, participate in student government, perform community service, and play games like chess and Scrabble.
